i'm planning on doing an automatic to manual conversion, but that's been delayed till i can get a trans that won't break when i do h/c/i/spray. i was looking at a rebuilt 3550, but it got sold. thing is, i want more performance out of my trans while i look and save cash. is it worth spending $110 on a Transgo shift kit? what effect will that have on my low 15s ET?

hope somebody responds to this... the last 3 times i asked these types of questions in here nobody did =(

The trans-go shift kit is most defiently worth the money. I couldn't tell you what kinda ET drops you'd get but I know it will make it feel like a whole new car.

sweet. think i'll go that route. then somewhere down the line i'll get a new TKO. might as well do things right the first time.

ok, so the trans has almost 100k, what fluid will work best with the transgo kit, and how much?

I don't think tranny fluid matters much as longa s you use new. After rebuilding my AOD and putting a Trans-go shift-kit in I used B&M synthetic trickshift cause it was available at my local parts store. I needed enough fluid to fill my AOD, torque convertor, stock cooler, aftermarket cooler, and B&M remote filter, it took about 15 quarts.

If you drain ya system and add nothing it takes around 12 quarts +- a quart.

one final question: what's the best way to flush the system so that i have no old fluid in it? not including the converter, just the trans and cooler.
