Non-VTEC B16A

Anyone familiar with this engine. I have someone that is going to sell one to me for $400.00 . The engine includes a tranny and ecu. The bad news is, the engine is blown. Of course I'm going to get it cleaned, honed , stroked , whatever it takes to get the engine running like new. Would that be a good deal to purchase and then get it rebuilt with Civic Type R components. Maybe other stroker kits available also. This engine will be installed in a 96-99 Civic Hatchback. If not any other suggestions or sites to contact for better deals. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks.

How much power output do you want?

Non-VTEC B16A?? I don't think such a thing exists. It could be a VTEC-disabled B16A, but otherwise some facts need straightening out here.

Hmmm, I was asking that question myself. Some guy maybe giving me the wrong story. I wasn't sure if they made one or not. Anyone else have an opinion on this?

There is no such thing as a b16 non vtec....maybe he meant to say a b18 non vtec. Now there is such a thing as that. :smoker:

all B16a are DOHC v-tec, i've never hear of a non-tec B16a

Are you sure it's not a "D"16A?

Is it twin cam or single cam?

its called a zc its a 1.6 dohc they came in some crx and integras in japan there alright weight to power is about compatible to a ls 1.8...my boys got one in a hf crx with intake exhaust and a ghetto ecu and is pulling high 14s all day on shitty tires ...the motors is really torque

maybe its just a b16 and the vtec was disabled...thats very possible

Haha, I put one of these together. I used my B20 head, and B16 block, and made another B20/vtec..but uh... just reversed. :screwy:

It ran, but was just a glorified ZC.

also, 400 for a blown motor? I mean I know it includes the tranny too but still. you never know what you will find inside a blown motor until you take it apart and look. it might not even be saveable
