Ok any one use this for a replacment ?
I have narrowed the root of my problems to the fuel pump .. When the Car is up to heat (after driving for @ 20-30 mins) apparently the fuel pump was giving out...('96 JGC @ 124k) not sure why ... seizing up from being to hot...
But heres my ?...
Someone mentioned the above part last week in a post..so i picked it up today...(to bring to mechanc tommorrow) ** he wanted to charge me 400 bucks for one from the dealer.. the above mentioned part is $89 at advanced auto...
In the box is a metal cylander part .. i am assuming this is the motor. and some gaskets and instructions ...
Does anyone know about the above mentioned part?

I more or less want to make sure the mechanic doesnt give me a hard time about it not fitting or soemthing..

Looks like a fuel pump. :)
I think it lives inside the gas tank, so the gasket is probably for the access plate for the pump and the fuel gage sending unit.

OK, I was wondering cuz it is very common for a fuel pump to go bad and get hott and shut down, but I have only seen this when it was below 1/2 tank or so.

Now that i think about it .. it may have ben doing something similar when the tank would fall to 1/4 for a while than when i filled it up it would go away..but for the past 2 weeks it just got worse..enven whe ntank was full
so it was probably going ?

yea I would say so. it has prolly just gotten worse b/c of it getting hott when the tank was low just caused it to get worse and now it is getting hot no matter where the fuel level is at.

i tried to find this part that cost $90 that Dale mentioned, but when looking for a 96 jgc fuel pump at advance auto it displayed just the whole assembly for purchase. i found this part but it was for a 97 jgc. i wasn't sure if it fit the 96 assembly. looks like you lucked out!! i wish i had seen this thread earlier today. oh well, it works now!
