CD Problem

I just got a '95 BMW 525i about 2 weeks ago, and at first the 6 disc changer in the back would play on and off, now all it says, no matter how many discs I change and flip around, DISC ERROR. I've tried cutting the power to it and I can't find the problem. Now it doesn't even check the discs, it just says that as soon as I press band or whatever to get to the CD mode. Also it won't spit the magazine back out now. Any suggestions?

Hi "andrewjt101":

1) I would try cleaning your BMW CD player first? (Although I do not think that is your problem, but all the CD repairmen that I ever dealt always told me cleaning the CD unit will not hurt, and they would asked me when I cleaned it last? Of course I gave them the wrong answer, and say I really do not remember, and they would then always smile and then start cleaning my CD player while "Licking Their Chops" because they then got to charge me their high price cleaning fee $$$$, even if it did not fix the problem that I brought it in to them in the first place!!! :evillol:

2) And if no success, Do you know a good trusted car stereo repairman, (Not the Local BMW dealer, unless you have mega bucks! J.k. LOL),? A good CD repairman can often look and test your CD changer and tell you what your problem is most of the time for a min. shop charge $$$ (Sometimes free, but that really depends on what kind of mood their in, or if their "baby needs a new pair of shoes" or not, LOL), Now I am just Kidding, but seriously, you might want to try a Department store i.e. Hi Fi Buys, (Tweeter), they might test your CD player for you at a better price than others, especially if they think you might buy your new CD changer from them to be installed $$$$. :naughty:

3) You know most all electronics are funny, and a nine year old CD changer might need replacing, and if it does personally I would shop the Internet for one with high quality at a good price:

Aandrew, I wish you the best with your BMW CD changer problem, and keep me informed on how things turn out for you.

Sincerely,

Thanks alot, I was planning on heading to some electronics place to look at it, but I never thought of cleaning. I'll try that and see what happens. Thanks again.

I don't think I'll end up replacing it if it is busted, I'll prolly get an I pod or some mp3 player and either fm transmit it or use the tape think.
