I just bought a d16z6 motor for my 92 civic lx. It has the d15b7 motor in it right now. The d16z6 motor doesn't say VTEC on the valve cover. Does this mean that it is the d16z6 si motor? If it is vtec how do i hook the vtec up to the wiring harness? Anything will help out. Some ppl have told me that the motor is a vtec. Is my LX wired for the sensor? if where is the hook up for it? i'm talking about in the engine bay.

UUmmm, it should be a v-tec. You should buy the ecu so you wont have to worry about the v-tec wiring. Or maybe there is a special wiring harness for this swap, who knows, do some research.

Your car should already be wired for vtec, because for some reason they prewired for vtec is '92 only (heard possibly some '93's as well). Look for a little "bell" shaped thing on the left side of the motor (tranny side) to see if your motor is vtec. For specifics on where the wires hook to the motor, get a manual like helms (or just download it here: http://www.crxpower.net/~silverkorn/manuals/92-95CivicManual.pdf)

thanx for all the help. Am I gonna have to use all the wiring on the d16 motor so that i have all the vtec wires?

You can use your existing harness if you want. All you need to add is 2 wires. A green/white wire on the vtec solenoid to A4. A orange/blue wire on the oil pressure switch to D6. And a black wire on the pressure switch to ground it. Just add the first 2 wires to the engine harness (matching them up to where they will plug into the ECU harness). Just look for those 2 different color wires and you'll see where they go.
