I have a 98 Beetle with a fever. I have changed the thermostat and the coolant temp sensor. It is still overheating. I believe I have traced the problem to the cooling fan control module. Can someone direct me to a site which offers these modules at a discount or wholesale price? The dealer wants an arm and a leg for one. Much appreciated. Steve

Make Sure You Check To See If The Coolant Pump Is Moving Water. Yes There Were Problems With The Cooling Fan Control Modules But There Were Even Bigger Problems With The Coolant Pump. The Cooling Fans Will Not Run If The Coolant Pump Impellar Has Came Off The Pump Shaft. One Quick Check You Can Do Is Let The Vehicle Get Up To Operating Temperature And The Check To See If The Lower Hose Ever Heats Up At The Radiator. If The Lower Hose Does Not Ever Get Hot Then The Pump May Not Be Pumping Any Water Through The Cooling System. As Far As Your Question Gos No I Cant Help With Getting A New Module. I Work At A Volkswagen Dealer So That Is The Only Place Were A Get Parts.

Hi Steve

I might be able to help... I work at an automobile recycling facility... are you looking for the module that is bolted to the left unibody frame rail? the one with 2 plugs?.... Or if you have the identification number off your old one and I see what I can do for you.

Hi bleedvw
Thanks for the heads up. The coolant pump was definitely part of the problem. The plastic impellar blades had somehow disintegrated. I hope they haven't damaged anything in the block. Is there a way short of dismantling the engine to flush these potential troublemakers out? Thanks, Steve
