hi, you know how the mustangs stickshift is long and bent backwards so you can actually reach it without having your seat pulled all the way to the front? well im just getting a short throw shifter with that same kind of stick, and a friend says that the length of the stick affects how short the throws are. is this true?
(just in case someone starts talkin about how "the year matters" im talkin about a 2003 GT

i dont beleive it has anything to do with it. if the shifter is shorter, yes it will be shorter throws, but the short throw shirt has nothing to do with the length of it. its down below where it makes a difference. thats what i think, i cant help you much, i have auto so. i do know that the short throw gives you 30% less shift play

Your friend is partly right and so are you. The throw of your shifter is a combination of the shifter itself(the bottom part so to speak) and the handle.
I'll give an example just to clarify... a Pro 5.0 shifter with the stock Ford handle mounted to it will have a shorter throw than a stock Ford shifter. But it will not have a shorter throw than a Pro 5.0 shifter with the Pro 5.0 shifter handle that comes with it.
