How much can I Deck A b16 head

I have a ls/ vtec(11.5.1 or 11.8. not sure either one) motor with a b16 head. How much can I deck the head without the valve hitting the piston? Because I have another b16 head that its deck .40 over and my friends tell me that too much for those kind of pistons that it will hit the valve for sure.. Does any one any CLUE :sly:
