This cant be normal...

Ok, This weekend i got my car running pretty normal so i decided to do a few test runs, a friend of mine is a cop and he came out and helped me....we waited untill about 3 am sunday night and ran a few tests..first was 0-60 then top speed, then we just raced(my civic vs. his pig mobile)
i ran the 0-60 test 3 times and came up with almost the same thing each time because i couldnt believe it...i ran the 0-60 in 8.7 seconds the first time, 9.0 the second and 8.8 the third, i didnt think that was possible from a d16Y8 engine, although i firmly believe the engine was swapped out by the previous owner...then after that i tested the top speed...my friend drove about a mile an a half ahead of me and i just took off from a stand still....by the time i got up to him he clocked me at 142.9 mph...we did it again and i was clocked at 141.4....then we decided to race....from the start he punished me but not even 20 secs later i caught up with him but couldnt pass him...i just thought this was a little strange because i didnt think a stock D16Y8 could put up these numbers but this just proves a little more that the previous owner did something to it...i just dont know what....just thought i would share with you all though...

how do you not know what your engine has?

i seen it on the radar with my own 2 eyes and i still didnt believe it so i ran it again and came up with almost the same thing....and i know what it says on the engine..D16Y8, plain as day, but i question wether or not it really is a Stock D16Y8 or rebuilt in some way, shape or form because since i had the car i have only lost 1 race and that was because the guy had N2O...other than that i have SMOKED cars that should have beaten me...i cant call it though...im just lettin yall know how it went down

is there any obvious mods,
CIA, header, super charger, turbo, exost.

try to look at some pics on the internet of what your stock engine looks like. shouldnt be hard to find.

well this being my 3rd civic i pretty much know what to look for and it looks bone stock, but since the first time i raced it i knew something was different about it...so far i raced a civic with a H22...smoked him...civic with a B16...smoked him...integra with a custom built engine...smoked him...only raced i lost was to an Accord with custom headers exhaust and N2O and he beat me by a good margin but only after the N2O boost... and those are just people i know...on the road i beat other civics, accords, maximas, subaru's and a few other car types i cant remember right now but most of them Should have beaten me....I really need to get in contact with the previous owner and ask his what has been done to it cuz just like u said...something cant be right here.

Those 0-60 times sound just fine, but 142! Thats a little far fetched. I dont know about your EX, but my 2000 HX's governor is @ 120, and imagine it could only hit 122-124 on a good day. Besides does an ex tranny even have enough gear for that speed?

i dunno about your car, but mine starts floating off the ground at about 110... maybe it's my hatchiness betraying me :P

i'm not seeing a stock d16y8 pushing 142mph... that's only a dozen hp better then me and you've got a few hundred pounds more weight then me.

stock gearing is not the question and the engine should be able to get to that after a loooooong straight, but beating all those cars sounds a little off, especially the civic w/ the H22, was it auto? u got a pic of your engine bay?

Well my car doenst have a governor...dont know why but it doesnt...ive taken it up to the 130 on the speedometer many times, i just never knew how fast i was actually going, as far as the weight goes, i took out the AC replaced the seats with light weight racing seats and took out a whole bunch of other crap that i dont need so its easily 100 lbs lighter than the average EX...now with the races ive been in...most of them have beat me from the start but within seconds i have caught up to them and beat them...my third gear is vicious...i can get up to 90 in 3rd...easily...and by that time im already ahead of them...im taking it to the shop next month and having it Dyno Tested to see what my actual HP and TQ is.

If you really have the power to pulll hard in 3rd then you probably should he getting better 0-60 times. Dropping weight in our low torque civics definitely boosts performance, however I have never been in one with any real weight savings to agree that that is whats making the difference. If you really think that someone rebuilt the motor before you bought it (a long shot if you dont know already), have the compression ratio checked for new pistons. A new stock D16 motor should hover around 184psi If you are substantially over 200psi, aftermarket high compression pistons are present.

I'm not sure about the power or anything, but you CAN pull to 90 in third on a 6th gen.

First goes to about 40
Second goes to about 63
Third goes to about 100
Fourth and Fifth go to governed vehicle max speed, 135mph.

Yes, in a stock civic, you can get to 135... just the same way you get to 65 in a VW Vanagon.

something cant be right here....no no no....i ahve a d15 engine with bosch platinum 4 plugs, moroso sport dist. cap. msd ignition coil, apc 9.3 mm wires, aem intake, throttle body spacer and i run 8.3 on 0-60...the fastes ive been able to go is about 120 becuz i live noowhere near a close strecth of road that is long enuff to go faster...i know my 3rd gear tops out at 92-93 mph and its an si tranny...so im sure u can get 140 in 5th but beating subaru's (unless they are older shittier ones) and a car with an h22 engine....i really cant believe that one...just post a pic of your bay and we can decide okay?

NO thats wack..I dint have a Y8 but i had a Z6 in my delsol well what came in it stock and top end in fourth gear im rolling 120 at about 5-6 grand on rpms wouldnt go no higher then 120 so i shifted into 5th gear bullshit still nothing just rolling down a hill at 120 in 5th gear with the gas stomped i dont know what was wrong but my tac was rolling up some and my speed stayed at 120 so i gave up..Now i now theres no way in the fuck and hell that you are getting 140+ mph out of that motor.A it would take a while to get up that high in speed if you did and have a long enough highway going down hill about 15 miles to reach it..

Yea it is a crazy idea for a police officer to race but i got a long time freind thats been a cops for yrs now and hes about to be a state cop he said he would be willing to race me for shits and kicks cause he used to build his hondas back in the day and hes about to build another..I could probally beleive him on the cop story but on speed i couldnt cause i had a delsol and a 95 ex civic that i put the motor out of the delsol and into the civic cause the civic motor was fawked, The motor was quite bit faster in my civic but i only had it up to 128 or so and it was creeping up there slowly..

How come you just don't race at the tracks. Sure you can beat a police car, most high performance cars can. The intent of a cruiser is not to have the fastest car or catch every car in a high speed chase, that is why they have CB's to dispatch for help. How do you think they caught the motorcycle going 200+ mph a few months ago? Do you realize how many people die because of racing on public streets? All this for a little bit of fun and braggin' rights. Now in Europe, all their police cars are supercharged. There is no way in hell your gonna out run them.

My friend was off duty at the time of the race and we were on a track like road...the road is not in use anymore and its about a 6 mile straight away, we hold races there about every week or so...so the road wasnt populated at all...as for the pics..i work 7 days a week at 2 jobs just to support my daughter that i barely get to see because of my work schedual...so i dont have time to take pics and upload them...if i had the time i would have been posted pics, but we all do what we gotta do to support ourselves and our families...maybe one day i will be able to post some but until then the only thing you can do is take my word for it or not...doenst make any difference to me.
