How much can I Deck A b16 head

I have a ls/ vtec(11.5.1 or 11.8. not sure) motor with a b16 head. How much can I deck the head without the valve hitting the piston? Because I have another b16 head that its deck .40 over and my friends tell me that too much for those kind of pistons ..That it will hit the valve for sure.. :sly:
