CD Deck Wiring Problems

I'm having problems with the wiring of my aiwa cd deck I put in. For some reason it's drawing power from the same source as the dash display and headlights, because when my lights are off the cd player does not power on. Only when the lights are turned on does the cd player work. Has anyone else ran into this problem? Please help.

Seems like you got a couple of wires crossed. You may have the light dimmer wire (from the CD Deck) hooked up to the car's power and your CD Deck power wire hooked up to your car's dash lighting .

We've gone over the wiring, and it doesn't seem to be a crossed wire.

Are you using connectors or did you wire it directly to the existing harness?
If you wired directly check out your current hot "power" lead with a multimeter and see if it's constant power with the ignition in the accessories position. If it is then the wiring should be okay and it might be the deck wiring itself.
