04 RSX-S vs 240 w/ka24.

Ok, a friend of mine bought a 240 sx for 1k, it had a littel less than half of engine, and one inflated tire when he bought it. He took it to his friends shop and had him put a ka24 (yes, the truck engine) in it. He says he will leave me in the dust. I think he is a shitty driver and couldn't win a race if I skipped first. Now, say I'm wrong and he can half-way shift properly, how bad would he leave me?

I thought the KA24 was the stock 240SX engine? If so you'll wipe the floor with him like he's the new Febreeze mop :).

I checked with a friend, it is the stock engine. He said he would probably beat me off the line, but in teh long run my moms carolla-s might be able to beat him.

Both the KA24E or the "faster" KA24DE will get blown out by the Type S assuming he's stock. Take him for as much money as he'll put up.

Think the 90 KA24E had the 140hp engine. But I'm not even sure it was an even 140- thought it was something like 136 or 137. Whatever- either way you're safe Swift...

ok here's how it is. I have a 95 240sx and an 03 Civic Si. and the truth is that the 95 to 98 240's come with a k24de with a stock hp rating of 150hp at the flywheel, and when it comes down to it my almost stock Si (the equivelent of a base RSX) blows the doors off of my 240. no comparison whatsoever. you'd literally win by seconds. I think the 240 runs something like 17.1 stock. And that motor responds like shit to bolt-ons, and the gains on K-series motors with simple mods are outrageous. Almost a waste of time for you to race this guy.

I know that much, but if you live Cali, be prepared to have your car taken from you with the SR20. But a friend of mine was telling me that the ka24 has a stroing block and can be boosted pretty high. He is not the most knowledgable person I know, but looks into those engines more than I do.

yeah ive seen ka's boosted making 500+ horsepower... so if he decides to mod out the engine he will beat u. remember that he has a 2.4 liter vs. your 2.0 and his engine makes more torque than it does horespower.

And there are K's making 600+whp (one is supposedly gonna be near 700)....your point?

KAT > SR
if his KA is stock or near stock you'll toast him i'd be guessing just a junkyard turbod Ka with a decent turbine would wax a rsx easly.

KA-T are very strong, but if you race him stock then you blow him away with the rsx-s. And the whole truck thing yea KA24DE is in a truck but its also the stock engine in 240s. they puttin out 155hp and 160lb/ft torque. With a turbo in it it can easily get around 300hp.
