Hello,
I am new. I came accross this forum as I was doing some research on the problems that I've been experiencing with my car of late. I hope someone could help me with the questions and issues that I am concerned with. Needless to say, I do not know too much about cars, so I truly hope someone could help steer me in the right direction.
OK.
I have a 1995 Chevy blazer, Ever since I brought it used back in 2000, I've spent more money then I can remember.
I had the following jobs done lately:
starter, fuel pump, alternator, muffler, and brakes fixed not too long ago. To my surprise, for the past two weeks, I've been experiencing a different set of problems. The car will not go past 10 miles when I am driving on the smallest hill, to get it past 10 and maybe close to 20 miles, I must press all the way down on the gas pedal and when I do that it makes all kind of weird noises and now it's also overheating. I took it to a shop and they checked the vehicle for loss of power, they checked the ignition spark, the fuel pressure and ignition pluse, what they diagnosed it with is as follow:
Leaking fuel in Intake Manifold from C.P.I Unit and
Leaking Radiator.
The told me that I need to replace the C.P.I Unit and I need to replace the Radiator and coolant hoses. Money is an issue for me right now. Can someone tell me how much it will cost me to get these problems taken care of? your reponse would be grately apreciated.

Sure sounds to me like a plugged catalytic converter. CPI will usually cause hard starting and black smoke when idling. Here's a good read on the CPI failure though.

Thanks for Replying Tom. What is a Catalytic converter and does that have anything to do with a muffler. If so, I had my muffler replaced not too long ago... what could be causing the converter to be plugged then. Also, the car definitely does the hard starting thing, although I've yet to noticed the black smoke. I checked out the link you posted concerning C.P.I. failure, that was quite informative.

Plugged cat convertor for sure caused by a bad CPI unit or nutkit leaking unburnt fuel into the exhaust system.
Do a search under CPI injector in this forum and you will come up with lots of information.
Just for starters, here is my CPI unit repair post on s10forum:

The converter is just under the passenger footwell area, different than the muffler. However, it normally won't affect starting or idling much if at all. If your machine is starting hard and idling it may well be the cpi unit or the internal feed lines leaking. Or even low fuel pressure from a failing pump. This is an expensive repair at a dealer any way you look at it. These Blazers are usually pretty dependable but it looks like you got a handful with yours.

I would have the cat convertor back pressure tested while it is warm.
Do not let them test it when the engine is not up to temperature or it won't constrict if that is the problem.
I think it is a combniation of all factors.
