Hey guys, ive been reading around and it seems some people have put a h22a in their crx. Ive got a 91 crx and Im asking this, if i buy the full H22a motor swap from passwordjdm.com. buy HCP mounts( apparently i need these from reading a different thread), have the engine delivered to a shop where my car is waiting, Can they just put it in and ill be ready to go? Is theyre anything else i need to buy? Any comments would be great. thanks Kyle

Also, does anyone know how much the labor cost is for a shop to drop a motor into a car?

you will need mounts, shift linkage, clutch linkage (possably convert from cable to hydro depending on the tranny), and you may have to convert the speedo to VSS (electric), ecu, wiring harness, axils, differnt hubs, larger radiator. Plus all the small things .

Cost varys from shop to shop, call and ask.

Most likely a new transmission as well.

eh no most likely to it, a b tranny wont bolt up to a h motor.

Im pretty sure the engine swap kits from passwordjdm.com come with a transmission and anything else the engine needs, does anyonbe know anyone whos done this?

check out hondatech.com there is a guy over there. I think his name is 2point2. He has a killer h22a swap.

i thought you need a adapter plate or something for that.

HCP doesnt make H22 engine mounts for a honda crx. theres a cheaper and better way to installing this engine. Use a b series tranny, buy an adapter plate for $550. It'll drop 100 pounds because of the difference in transmission weight...The entire swap only weighs 7 pounds more than a b18 swap.

if you used the B-series transmission adaptor plate the swap is pretty easy,

you would needs

obd-1 H22 motor
Cable B-series trans
h22-b series adaptor plate
B-series shifter linkage
B-series clutch
B-series starter
B-series motor mounts for EF
P28 ECU chipped
OBD-0 to obd-1 harness

this makes the H22 swap way easier to fit in the EF chassi, and also better gearing and better shifter linkage.

check honda-tech for the adaptor plate.

have fun beating the shit out of your engine bay

dang i didnt know the h22 can actually be mated to a b-series transmission and weigh so little contrary to common belief. makes me rethink about swapping a k-motor. :p :D

if you have a H22 with a B-series tranny you don't need to beat the engine bay, it fits like a glove

i have an h22 92 hatchback. i wish i could post pictures. the weight of the motor isnt as noticable as people make it out to be. i bet i can do just about as much as i can with my b16 crx, maybe not exaclty but almost. torque in a honda just doesnt feel right, and with the h22 its crazy.
i still got love for the crx tho, i just wish it was a little faster now.
if i can figure out how to post pics i'll do it.

does putting in an h22a lower yr gas milage? just curious. not that it'll matter that much.

um place motor mounts makes a weld in kit for a h22a into a 4thgen civic or 2nd gen crx, but ive heard its overpriced and crappy.
