hey the 91 crx that i might get it smokes and burns oil really fast  i think it needs a new ring job . are they called ?tasten rings? well he said he would pay normally about $600.00 for the laber -->is that good ?<-- but are the rings cheap ?
thank you .

The rings are going to be fairly cheep, less than $100. Thats alot of labor, but I'm surpised its not more honestly. Its alot of work to put new rings in and hone the cylinders.

yea, my rings for my dohc zc were 80 bucks canadian :) got the block honed for 60 bucks canadian and did the work myself for free :)

TheSilentChamber

did have the tools for it, and also this is a very reputable shop, they checked for taper before they even honed it to make sure everything was 100% before doing anything. and i didnt wanna do it and fuck something up either. i might test it out on my d15b2 if noone buys it

It's not going to cost you much more to just put a B16A1 in it. You could probably get the engine for $800, plus installation. It will be much faster.

hmmm 800+installation

He didnt even wanna spend 600 for new rings+labor, why would he want to spend 200 more and have to pay for labor to install which is around 500 bucks!!!

Did you have to drop the engine out on the bottom and take it apart that way, or were you simply able to take of the valve cover and cylinder head, and change them that way. I'd be intersted in doing this myself, because my CRX does burn some oil.

No doubt, show me where you can get a b16a1 for 800 and im jumping on that, the cheapest ive seen was on hmotors.com, 1499, plus shipping and thats everything included............

well i had just bought the engine so i had it out on a motor stand. if ur gonna do it urself then 90% of the motor has to be taken apart meaning ur gonna need all new gaskets too. take off the oil pan, valve cover, head, intake and exhaust manifold. then unbolt the endcaps on the end of the rods and GENTLY push them up and out of the block. i say GENTLY because if u rush and scratch ur crank then ur gonna be buying a new crank as well.

I'd say if your willing to spend over 600 dollars on a ring job, just put that towards a new engine, d series engines are a dime a dozen...........

risingsunengines.com sells the D16A6 for about $600 bux, so you might as well get a new engine

that's what i'm gonna do when my engine goes out or burns a crazy amount of oil
