2000 Cherokee Sport 4x4 - 80000 miles - pw,pd,auto, sunroof, new tires and brakes. Guy from work just wants to get out of the payments and he says he will sell it for what he owes, $6600. Have driven the car and it rides good, just looks like normal wear on it. Carfax checks out. I have had my eye out for a cherokee ever since I drove my freinds '93. Ive asked everyone Ive stopped by in traffic with a cherokee if they like it. And everyone seems to love these Jeeps. This seems like a good deal. Anything I should look for in particular? Would you buy it?

Tranny, tranny, and then when you are through checking the tranny, check it again. The motors and AC are the best in the world but the f**king tranny is the worst. Just did a transfer case switch myself on my 93. Electrical is not that good either! But this is with a 93

I have a 00 Xj and at 93K it runnng great. I have done regular fluid changes and all is still good. As far as the tranny thing, mine is still shifting great, no problems. Just one word of advise, get the coolant system professionally flushed out. I developed a problem at 21K, no problem since. If you want to install larger tires, even 30's you will have to put a 2" lift on it. Keep up on your fluid changes and it will treat you right for many more miles to come.

Thanks for the advice guys. Getting a service manual on it this weekend and will be doing all the service on it myself. Just save so much money that way and thats what gives a vehicle soul. After driving for almost a week. I love everything about it. Not small but not big, just the right size. You will probably be seeing a lot of posts from me.

good luck I gave up on my '98 with 107,000 on it. Over time I replaced:

Electric Fan
clutch driven fan
2 fog lamp switches
AC clutch
fuel pump

and the list could go on for a while. It felt like after I got over 95,000 on it, the peripherals just started falling apart. The motor ran great, used little oil except for the typical 4.0 valve cover leakage, but the peripherals were just terrible.
