Yeah so like, anyone that HASNT changed rear drum brake shoes before I dont suggest you plan on doing it unless you can free up the next 72 hours of your time. Like true "rally racer pit crew" style me and Rene worked for the last 3 days to change both sides. It didnt HAVE to take this long but since neither of us had done it and wanted to learn, we took our time and made sure we did everything right... even when sometimes we did everything right 3 times :finger:

But now that weve done it, its pretty easy. We were going to do a write up for you all but the pics all came out like crap so I think we are gonna scrap that idea. I might be willing to take it all apart and take NEW pictures if you guys really want a better understanding of it... cause those manuals dont give you dick for pictures!

just imagine when 4 wheel drum brakes were standard equipment!!!!

60-0 in like 200+ feet!!

they are a pain to change but hey man i offered you guys my helms manual. sure its for the 96-98 model's but drum brakes are drum brakes no matter how you look at it.

what did the problem end up being anyway? sis the drum just need adjusted?

Well the pads looked pretty shot to hell... so we picked up new pads (shoes ... whatever) and then it still felt kinda weak (ebrake ~ which is what I wanted fixed) so we busted out the manual and figured out how to adjust it. Seems pretty tight but I havent taken it on the road to break them in yet... need to get a new "temp tag" to do that cause mine expired. But I think with a little break in period and another quick adjustment at the cable itself we will be all set for the next 3 weeks :D

also if you wanna seat them a little just find a slight incline (hard to do in florida) and back down it while pulling and letting off the ebrake handle.

Yeah we were gonna goto the Walmart parking lot to break them in. But we couldn't get the shoe contact just right. We did a ghetto rig and tightend the screw on the e-brake handle like a inch more than what it should be to get them to bite down the way they're supposed to be but we need to get in there and really adjust the travel. My god, what a pain.

I know in the parking lot we can whip her upto like 35-40 ~ should be good for a few STOMPS on the brakes. Should set them in right... and hard to find an incline in Florida? Hell just goto Rene's driveway :smoker2:

But im always on... Rene is the punk arse that dont get on anymore ~ he broke his computer :(

You know for some strange reason, he doesn't like me driving his car in the Walmart parking lot. I don't know why. It's not like fish-tailing is gonna have ill effects on his precious CX. Besides, rear brake wear is minimal in those situations. So he don't got nuthin to bitch about.

But I can't get on AIM. My comp died again so I use the school computers. But hey, the civic forum is almost like OT, isn't it?

Hahaha, why do you get to have all the fun? I mean... its only a CX it only weighs 2048 pounds ~ those cement posts will stop it from going inside the walmart if something happens

:flipa: :finger: :flipa: :finger: STOP BRAGGING!!!!!!!! :finger4:

Besides, rear disc swap will be coming shortly... so it will be even better then having "stock" disc brakes all around ~ but then of course im sure im going to end up needing new pads ~ hell at least they are alot easier then DRUM SHOES! My god, oh well... patience is virtue... every day I go out there and give my car a rub down to let her know that she soon, oneday will be decently cool

Not having a g/f right now friggen kicks ass cause I dont have to waste away all my money going to the movies and shit ~ wow you would be amazed at how much all those little things add up. Instead me and Rene get to goto "Poop Boys" so I can stalk the girl at the register :finger:
