Hi,
I just test drove a 2000 si and noticed something peculiar with the Power Locks but thought I'd check with civic gurus before going further....
Essentially, how is this feature supposed to work? Is it the same as keyless entry? (i.e. a remote to unlock / lock the doors?). Reason I ask is, the car I test drove did not have a remote to lock/unlock the doors - and when I tried to manually lock the door (when the engine was turned off), it wouldn't budge?? The salesman said you have to close the door, then lock it (using the key) from the outside?? This sounds like an issue to me... Is this normal in 2000 SI's?
Is a remote supplied for locking/unlocking doors on the 2000 model?
Any feedback would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Tom

in my 97 hx, to lock it with the power locks, you have to have the door handle open and press the button down. but to unlock jsut press it up. its annoying to have to open the door handle to lock it, but u could judt hold the the door there, you know? closed with the handle open. but the power locks are good when i get out, cuz i open the door handle and with the same hand just press the button and get out. always works

This operation should be the same with all honda and acura power locks.
The keyless entry feature comes with the si. it is either broken, the remote was lost, or, its not there anymore.
Just go get a new alarm with keyless entry. Honda systems suck.

You know what, just go get yourself a gun to shoot off the thieves, because, the 99-00 civic si is the #4 stolen vehicle in the US.
