Well i decided to something a bit different and make a car that looks almost ready for the scrapheap. This was a cheap and simple Fujimi kit, so was ideal for the experiment. It's not quite finished. I am going to do a coat of dust to make it look even more old and manky. Haven't decided how to do it yet. Anyway here are some pics.

The rims colud use a blackwash and the windows are quite shiny for a used car, but otherwise very clean:D build..

Way To Go Matt !!!.............that looks fantastic, great "rusting", especially around the wing mirrors.

Very convincing.
Love the rust on rear quarter panel and right pillar emblem!
The underbody detailing looks so clean, are you sure you want to weather it?
How about making the outside look ratty, but once you open the hood the S20 is shiny, brand new and hot-rodded :evillol:

Thanks for comments guys. I'm trying to make it look dirty now. Hope i don't go overboard and ruin it. Ufortunately the lid is molded shut and was too complex for me to open, but the engine is pretty clean.

Yeah it does look more than a little like the Challenger. Mixed with some others maybe.

I have now finished it. I made it look dirty, actually it looks like it's just been dredged up from the canal, and gave it a little coat hanger antenna (last 2 pics only) like all old bangers should have. See what you think.

Looks awesome...though you'd get thrown in jail if you drove something in that condition in japan ;)

Too cool! :sunglasse

Not every model has to be of a shiny new or fully restored car. Dirty old cars sure have character!

Thanks. I think it's actually my best model. And took a fraction of the time to complete.

Nice job indeed. Now for some dirty old bike, let's say Ducati 916 after a bit of slideing down the road (it would brake my heart thou ;))

Tikiman
10-28-2004, 04:40 PM
That would be really cool. Can you imagine dropping a real Ducati? :banghead:

I really like that thing! Looks very real. The only thing that I don't like is , if you look at the grill opening you can see the ground because of the gap between body and chassis... I think it would look better if you would have closed that gap, or added an old and rusty looking grill. But well, it's your model, so if it's to your liking leave it like you want it to :)

Tikiman
10-28-2004, 06:50 PM
Yeah, i know what you mean. The gap between the body and the wheel well is way too big. Never really thought about it.
