what would be the signs of hydrolock?

i cleaned the throttle body yesterday. and not sure if any of that carb cleaner got into the cylinder.

You would need a lot of carb cleaner to get in there to lock up the motor. And that stuff evaporates fast. Why, what did you break now :D

LOL... it's just that i decided to clean the throttle body. i already had some serious misfiring problems at low rpms... and now after cleaning... the problem seems to be getting worse.

i already changed wires, regapped the 7es and then changed back to the stock NGK (helped a lot). and now after cleaning.. it seems everytime i let off gas at 2000 or below the RPM drops! dramatically and then comes back up.

I don't know if you've been following one of the other threads going on about BOV recirculating, but as a longshot, are you?

You didnt get any cleaner in those holes int he bottom of the TB did you? The wax used in the Fast Idle Air Valve can be damaged by solvents. Which would probably make it always open. Not sure if that will cause what you describe, but its worht mentioning.

I've had that happen before when I was replacing the Tps sensor and it wasn't adjusted properly. So, when I hit the gas it about gave me whiplash, and when I let off it felt like I was crawling.

just an add on question, but could someone explain hydrolock a little to me...i thought its what happens when you get water in your cylinders...but i just read an article on water injection. and how you can boost like 29 psi on it(modified mag)

ON hydrolock:
Here's one with pics + some other info.

Ok.. I found these, but it didn't really do that good of a job explaining it.

I think the main thing is that water cannot be compressed at all. So if you get into a lake, get scared and hit the gas to get out... there's plenty of vacuum by the engine to fill the cylinders with enough water where they cannot compress fully. It stops rotating because it won't get to TDC to go around, and the impact either stops the motor for a rebuild, or breaks a bunch of crap. :)

I would also do a boost leak test to make sure every thing is sealed up properly.
