Hey All...
New to the forum and hoping someone might have an idea for me...I have a '97 GMC Sierra 1500 that I just bought. I'm trying to replace the standard headlamp bulbs with some high intensity bulbs that I bought but the two screws that are holding the headlamp in place (on both sides) refuse to come out. It looks like they screw into plastic but I'm not real familiar with the headlamp parts so there might be a metal nut that I can't see. Can anyone give me an idea of how I might get the screws out? I've tried WD-40 to kill the rust, I've tried pulling up on the screw with vice-grips while turning...I've even tried praying over them, all to no avail. Any help would be appreciated. :banghead:
Thanks...

I might be wrong, but it sounds like those screws are for the adjustment as far as aiming the beam. Usually there are 2 pins on each light; you unclip them and then slide the pins up. You can then remove the headlamp assembly.

What I did was I went to Car Toys and bought some PIAA Bulbs replaced them and did it ever make a big diffence but remember take your Truck first to a State Inspection Station and have your headlights checked to see if there set to factory specs. Good luck! RS

Are you just trying to replace the bulb? or the whole assembly? the screws you see in the front on top are for adjusting, Looking at my '97 sierra, it looks as if you have to pull the front piece (the one with the grill and marker lights, basically the nose) off the truck, two small bolts on top under the hood and possibly a few more below, to get the assembly out without breaking anything. if it is just the bulbs you want to replace, the bulb turns in the back where it connects to the wires. Simply turn it a little, and it will come out.
