MR2 rear clip

For a while now I've been doing research on which engine to put into my 88' 4dr corolla and have decided on a 3sgte. I found a place that has the engine but, it is a rear clip. Does it matter wether the engine is mounted in the back or the front? Can this engine be placed into my FWD corolla? The place that is selling the engine said it can, but I want to double check. By the way, any information that will make the installation easier will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

can be done but it'll take a lot of work. you'll have to pretty much totally fabricate the engine mounts and the tranny will have to be worked so it works in a FWD too. good choice on the 3S-GTE...let us know how it works out.

When you say "totally fabricate the engine mounts", do you mean I would have to make new mounts for my car or can I just use the mounts that are in the clip and weld them on to mine?

you could probably use the mounts on the clip, but you'd have to remove the old ones and you probably wouldn't be able to weld the ones from the rear clip straight on.
