Hey,
I'm seriously considering buying a 04 or 05 Corolla and would be very interested in their overall reliability or any knowledge about them you would want to share.
Do late model Corolla's have any known defect issues?
Thanks

Buy one. If you want a car with REALLY good reliability, comfort, and gas mileage, it's for you. No know defects. Even though the new Corolla's shouldn't have the dreaded oil sludging, I would keep the oil changed every 3-4 months or 3000-4500 miles. To be even safer, I would use the oil that is in it when u buy it for about 1000 miles and then switch it over to Mobil1 5W-30. Take care of it if u decide to buy one!

Corollas generally make it to 200,000 miles if you take care of them (meaning regular maintenance). pretty much everything zeek said about them is right on.

They usually can make it more than that. My Aunt had a 1990 Corolla and never really took care of it...... lasted 239K miles with her and is still on the road today (I think). It didn't have the oil changed that often and most likely ran on 2 quarts of oil a lot. Goes to show how much these things can stand even without care. But I would prefer to keep the fluids changed on their scheduled mileage. Tip.... have your transmission/standard transmission fluid changed every 30,000 miles.

I work with 4300 other dedicated Toyota employees that would tell you our cars are the best built on the road. I will tell you that this plant has won three JD Power Gold awards Two Silver and one Bronze. No one beats that . Not Honda not Nissan and certainly not one of the big three...
Don't get me started on big 3 quality.

My aunt has a 1997 Corolla and it has 127k miles on it. Yes, a lot of miles for a '97. It runs like it is new!
