Is there a difference between a release bearing and a throwout bearing? Or are they the same thing? I hope they're the same thing :uhoh:

Give it some time, not everyone is on this early in the morning. I would like to know the difference too, since I'm told my throwout bearing is shot. :/

I think it is, I bought a clutch on ebay and it says it comes with a release bearing, which I'm hoping is the same as a throwout bearing.

I think they are the same thing

there is another bearing(the flywheel bearing)

I bought a kit and it has 2 bearings, throw out & a smaller one(must be flywheel)

I bought the excedy clutch on ebay for about 100.00,it came with a throwout bearing,I never did change the bearing when I installed the clutch, because someone told me mine was good,
a year later,my throwout bearings going out,

to check if your throwout bearings going out:
with your car started,
if its bad,you should hear an air sound coming from the passenger side motor, when you engage the clutch it should stop,
its somtimes hard to hear,
if the throwout bearing goes all the way out,the worst that can happen,
is you'll haft to start starting your car, with it in gear,
(but I need mine changed)

release and throwout should be the same thing just 2 different names. the second bearing you said you got i would think it would be the pilot bearing
