3 Series compact discontinued

Last weekend I ordered a 325ti. BMW Sydney confirmed the order yesterday, but had the following news..
"You're the lucky last - the 3 series compact has been discontinued, to free up manufacturing lines for the 1 series; and to move potential purchasers towards the 1 series. We had to argue to get your car built, and BMW tell us that your car will be the very last 3 series compact to come off the production line."
The 325ti is still advertised on their website, and all the other BMW websites internationally. However, when I started looking at the new models to be released, the compact doesn't get a mention - the 3 series release schedule for the sedan, soft top, coupe etc are all there but no compact.
Has anyone heard any news that can confirm/debunk this? It seems extremely unlikely that MY car would be the LAST one built. But I can't think of any reason that BMW Australia would make something like that up??
