So far I've had o2 sensors installed on my car. The original one worked perfectly before I put my header on, now I can't get any to work. I just got another one from a friend that said he just took it off a car and it was working fine. It does the exact same thing. The only other thing it could be now is my header. It's a DC sports header for a 92-95 civic D series. It should work, but if it doesn't, or anybody else has had this problem with this header, please let me know.

my cars like bubblen backfiren out my muffler,
& a good mechanic told me it was bad fuel mixture,
& it could be caused from my 02 sensor...
so I need one too,I also have headers(dont know what name brand thou)
(I have a bosch 02 sensor)
also,whats your 02 sensor doing?
to check it,
put the car on stands(front)
put it in 2nd gear,raise the rpm's to 2000,for 10 mins,
if the check engine light comes on its bad....

Ya, I get an o2 sensor error on the ecu. But I'm not sure if it's the o2 sensor or the header.

its probably not the header. I used a 92-95 D16z6 header on my d16z6 OBD0 swap for well over a year with zero problems. make sure your extension wire doesnt have a bad connection and also make sure its not grounding or touching on anything else. If you havent replaced the o2 sensor in a while, do so, as you really cant tell from appearance sometimes if the sensor is bad.
if all else fails, weld an O2 sensor bung in the "4-2" collector pipe or elsewhere in a stock-like location to see if that solves the problem. since obd0 uses a single (or sometimes 2 in the b16a/PR3/PW0 application) single wire (unheated) o2 sensor. in the newer cars, the o2 sensor isnt located as close to the exaust ports becuase it contains a built in heater and does not need the heat from the exhaust ports to get it to operating temperature.

I've got a bung in the 92-95 stock spot - up close to the head on cylinder 4, then the other one is at the back of the header right before the cat. Neither have worked for me.

get a new o2 sensor and/or check your wiring.
also check your fuel mixture. stock honda o2 sensors have a range that is very very narrow. too rich or lean will trigger a check engine light.

also check your fuel mixture.
how do you check it?

a quick check is to look at the plugs. blistered white is lean, sooty black is rich. If he isnt throwing any other codes i'm assuming his injectors are working properly. check fuel filter in the lean case, fuel pressure in either case, and check the ignition system as a misfiring or weak ignition doesnt completely combust all the fuel resulting in the o2 sensor "thinking" that the mixture is running very lean. theres a number of things that can cause it.
If you dont have extensive modifications done to the engine and/or ECU, then its probably not the air/fuel mixture causing the check engine light

Do you have a muffler leak anywhere in the exhaust system?
that you may know about,(ever put on a muffler with clamps)
I'm just curious because everyone I know with the bubble backfire thing has an exhaust leak, including me(that will be fixed next week...somtime),
& that may be the problem.

I dont think it's the muffler because when i first got the car it was doing it. Now with a new exhaust and piping, it's still doing it. :screwy:

I just went & bought another bosch oxygen sensor for 40.00,
I installed it,
it stopped the bubble backfire out the muffler,
I took a look at my other o2 sensor & it had a cut in the wire,2 or 3 little wires hanging out of the sensor wire, :uhoh:
plus the head of the sensor, looked like it was burnt up,
I think I definitly needed one & I recommend that anyone with big poppin/bubblen coming out of the exhaust get a new sensor,
its wroung fuel mixture,(gas blowing up in the exhaust)

Well, for some weird reason, my new one is working now. Must have had to burn off all the old stuff, cause after a couple of days my check engine light stopped coming on.

instead of just replacin the sensor you should run the diagnostic tests. The code just tells you what circuit has a out of ordinary reading, not if a sensor has failed.

i know that im bringing up a dead thread but i have been having some problems. i changed my plugs and wires and now it bubbles. the cel only comes on when i decelerate in gear to a lower speed. i can reset the ecu and it works till the cel comes on again. im thinking that my o2 sensor is fine but i dont know maybe not before the plugs i had a quiet bubble now its loud and im loosing huge amounts of gas mileage and it smells like gas when i get out of the car. any ideas? how would i rewire the whole 02 sensor circut. 4g4d maybe you could help me we both live in the boise area.

my accord is doing the same thing. Im going to change my o2 sensor in a few hours need to sleep a little first lol but i hope that fixes the problem if not then i think that its my egr.
Have my rex together one the 28th. Finally. Just my luck they will lose the gaskets and bearings and shipping and ill have to wait even longer.

also when changing o2 sensors DONT touch the end of the sensor the grease on your fingers will create hot spots on the sensor and cause it to go bad quickly...same concept as a light bulb.
