I was wondering about those total fluiud replacement ads that aamco and other's promote, is it worth the 80.00 or so dollars to do that or would it be better if i just drain all the fluid out my self and replace the filter... also is there any treatments for the tranny that i should use when i change the fluid??

I would suggest the tranny flush, when you change the fluid yourself you are only getting 6 quarts or so out. There is still another 4-8 quarts still in the Torque convertor. Flushing it gets it ALL out. I would do the flush, only if you have more than 60K on your XJ. I have a 00 XJ w/93K on it and have done regular changes myself, still working great. Have considered a flush, but need to fix front end first.

The fluid replacement is not too effective unless they drop the pan, clean it out AND clean out the magnet in the pan. If they just suck out and flush the fluid all the pan crap is still there.

Do both
either get them to replace the filter when they do it or drop the pan yourself before you go in for the flush
either get them to replace the filter when they do it or drop the pan yourself before you go in for the flush
