I was thinking of buying a drag t3/t4 turbo and running about 7psi or lower until i build my engine.... my gsr is about to hit 140k miles .... b4 i got it i would get a compression test and what else should i do to the stock motor to run that kind of boost ...thanks

um I would maybe replace a few parts, look the engine over rods,pistons,sleeves 140k is not a lot for a honda but a turbo throws some ouch into the engine

what is the stock compression of gsr again 10:8:1 or 10:1 9:1. But anyway 7 psi is a nice street setup and it should be okay

stock compression is an even 10:1 for a gsr. with 140k i wouldnt really suggest putting on a turbo... it especially puts a lot more wear on your bearings and you already have a lot of milage on them

do u think i could just get new bearings until i get the money to replace the internals like rods pistons sleeves etc....or should i just forget about it

i dont have the means to spend like 5k on a rebuilt engine ...which i kno i wouldnt need to spend just to handle 7psi ...but i dont kno how much it would take to handle just about 7psi

a stock gsr on a t3/t4 is able to be boosted at 8 psi, 9 on occasions, any higher and ur asking for trouble.

yes, just get a compression and leak test to see if u can handle the boost or need a rebuild. if u ever go to any turbo websites such as drag, turbonetics, or rev hard, all of their boost setting for thier t3/t4 kit is set at 8 psi.

ok bud ...thanks ... one more quick question .. what are good enough results for the compression and leak down test ?
i can think of 2 reasons, either u want to go boost, or ur car has too many miles causing wear tear thus lowering ur original compression. just because a motor such as the b18c1 has a stock c/r of 10:1, this doesn't mean, it will stay at the ratio for the life of the motor.

I dont understand why u told me the reasons i would do a compression and a leak down test, i was just wondering what a good result of the leak down test would be??

oh, i thought u asked, "what are good enough reasons for the compression and and leak down test"? well they vary due to differant factors such as engine displacement, c/r, and if its n/a or f/i so i can't give u a specific psi result, the best way is to ask a mechanic for the service limit if u want to do it urself. after finding that ur losing compression u should now do a leak down test which focuses on where u are losing compression.
if ur interested in doing it urself heres a link, or u can just get the easy way out and have a mechanic do it for u for around $100.
