95 2.2L problem

my dad took his S10 to the shop the other day, and they tested it, and found that #1 & #3 spark fuel injectors were shorted out, so the truck would stall and sometimes wouldnt restart. They also said there is a chance the computer could have shorted out too, but they cant check until the injectors are replaced. anyways, today, I replace those 2 injectors, and when i started the truck up, it ran fine. I even took it to the corner store. as i was leaving the parking lot, suddenly I had no acceleration. It just stayed at 20mph, then slowly it started to catch up, and the truck took off. got it home, and now it has an irratic idle, backfires when revved, and has a irratic RPM climb when i push the pedal or pull the TB butterfly to rev it up. I checked the IAC motor, MAP sensor, and the vaccuum junction block, and all seem to be working correctly. So, my main question is, where is the ECM so i can put another one in, and see if that corrects it, and is there a way to test to see if the ECM is bad, without replacing it.

First of all, have you done a tuneup with new plugs, wires, fuel filter, air filter, PCV valve?

Have you checked the coil packs for a problem?

Have you had the computer scanned for trouble codes?

new plugs, wires, coil packs, not sure if they did the fuel filter and PCV, but the air filter is clean. and from what i have noticed, if it sits for awhile, and you start it up, it runs just fine. but once it reaches normal operating temps, it starts to act up.

I took it to Autozone for them to scan for codes, and the scanner kept saying "link Error" so I dont know if maybe the computer is shorted and thats why it wont link up

is there a way to run a self Diag on the ECM? I recall that there was a trick I used on my old Cutlass where if you use both ends of a paper clip, and put them in 2 certain pinouts on the clip that you hook up a scanner to, it would run a self check, but i dont recall how to do it.

Are you OBDI or OBDII?

I had a similar problemwith my 2.2L, my truck idled eratickly once, but most of the time it would cut off when it reached the operating temp. I changed the oil pressure sensor but that did nothing. Turns out that there was a bad connecting at the fuel pump. Where the prongs on the connector plug into the sending unit it was just barely touching, for some reason when it reached operating temp it would cut out. Anyways i fixed the loose conector and my truck has been running fine. Also instead of pulling the fuel tank out i unscrewed the left side of the bed and put blocks underneath so i could get at it. just sent you an email. how did you know to check the fuel pump connection?
