Yep
They closed it about 7 years ago.
Gm has to save money some how so why not cut out the Tech training centers.
I used to love going there learned more talking to other Techs about problems and fixes they find.
And going to the Mall for lunch and then being done at 3pm.

So FirePlug how does working with your bad back affect you? I fractured 2 disks 15 months ago and I'm still having problems bending over hoods for more than 20 min most days.
Good thing that I don't swing wrenches for a living any more

Well I blew out 3 disks and hurt 2 more. I kept working for 2 weeks after the injury and spent most of my time on my knees when working under the hood. I had to go and have 3 operations by the time it was all over and because I kept working with the injury I did a lot of nerve damage. Hell I am a tuff guy I can take it was my big mistake.
That was in July 1998 and as of today I am out of the game for good. The Docs will not let me lift anything or stand for more then 2 hours at a time because the pain in my legs is so bad. The weather just kills me when its about to rain.
I miss being able to work. I loved working on GM cars and trucks because everyone problem was different and it never got boreing. I did most of the trouble cars when the other Techs gave up. Most nights I would take a customers car have with the scan tool hooked up so I could get a reading of what is going on. Also we had a snap-on scope and I was the only 1 who new how to use all the different functions and understand it. Like the vacuum wave form mode I used that one to find a lot of problems.
Sorry got off of topic
Just be very carfull what you do and how you do it . I wrong twist or bend and puff its all over.
And 25 years as a Vol. Firefighter is all over too.

Fireplug, I kind of assumed that your were a Volunteer Firefighter just by your name. Apparently, you must be a conscientious individual who gives of his time for his community and I salute that. I too was once a Volunteer but gravitated away due to job. There are not too many rewards other than the personal satisfaction in helping others. Have you ever thought that there are other functions that you could help out with at the firehouse?

Good Luck with all

When I fracture my back I also broke several other bones, bruised my lungs, and had to spend several days in the hospital... so I couldn't do the tough man act. Shoot I couldn't even move without help for a month.

I just wish that the insurance company would believe all the medical professionals when they say that I can't do any heavy lifting for the rest of my life, and that I should be re-trained. I can't even lift a battery in and out of a car anymore.

Get well Fireplug, and watch out for your poor back.
