I was looking at the shifter bushing kits by RRE, etc, . They say that they elimnate the sloppiness of the shifter giving it a more precise feel.

My question: what is the ease of install, in man hours, for a 2G turbo shifter bushing kit?

i dunno about the time but kevin recommended rollerblade bearings as shift bushings in another thread. probably cheaper then the rre ones

they are the best 35 bucks i have ever spent!!!

it is a cheap mod that changes your shifts from sloppy to sticky. your shifter will feel llike a million bucks.

this is also in connection with getting a B&M short shifter. i was having slight issues [very slight] missing 3rd WOT at 50% redux. this kit fully solved it. shifts feel solid as a rock.

install was about an hour taking my sweet ass time. super simple and there are great instructions.

wow. All the bushing kits I have looked at for our cars have 2 washer-like pieces. Is that all? Where did you get yours, Vince?

or i should say 2 on each corner. and they are more like spacers, not washers.

Mach V did say for all eclipses, but they also carry a small amount of n\t products. Can I get that kit for the n\t's?
Also, I think Shpyder and Boosted seem to be the spyder representatives, or maybe the spyder twins.

Sure can. I have them. However, mine did not feel different at all after installing it until about a month later when suddenly it felt a lot better. I have no idea why maybe the bushing did not set in properly. But I have to say they are fuckin awesome now.

How would you install the rollarbalde bearings?

The OD has to match the cabel end. It should press in with a big pair of channel locks or vice grips. The ID has to fit over the pin on the trans shift linkage. I dont konw the size/part number, but I've seen it posted.

i don't know how much roller blade bearings are, but 35 bucks ain't much.

but again, i have to say that the full potential for these are not going to be felt without an aftermarket short shifter...

spyder guyz rule... :ylsuper:

I'll never put a short shifter in my car.

All shorter shifters by the wya they work narrow the window you have to get into a given gear. At my power level, a half assed engagement is garanteed to scatter my tranny the length of the track. I would rather have a little more leeway and just move my hand faster :) The roller blade bearings on thier own were a huge improvement. I got rid of the rubber washers on the bracket mount as well.

My shifter kit should be arriving soon. I ordered it from Mach V last week. I called and spoke to one of the guys that works there and he told me it works real well without a short shifter. So i'm gonna try it by itself first and then I might get a B&M or OBX short shifter off of ebay later on. Have any of you tried the shifter kit without a short shifter??

See my previous post, 2 above yours. Short shifter and shifter spacers/bushings are two seperate mods with two different purposes ;)

Yeah I know that they are two separate mods. But, both change the way it feels when you shift. I know that the short shifter reduces the distance it takes to switch between gears but I just wanted to know if anyone had tried the shift kit without a short shifter.

imagine walking on metal shoes. compare them to walking on your rubber soled shoes. think like that ;)

Here is his post. He explains that he doesn't use a short shifter and he explains why he doesn't. I just wanted to clear that up.
