I need a motor....

Ok, I have a 93 Civic DX, unfortunately I just replaced the oil pump with a brand new top of the line one which turned out to be a piece of ****. Not even 3 months or 300 miles and the pos done died.... So not only is my oil pump screwed again but it fudged my motor. I usually would be saying it's time for the Si swap. But I'm gonna have to go back factory for a lil while.

So anyone know where I can pick up a stock dx motor I believe it's a D15B7 motor. Any one have one that they swapped out or know where I could find one? I'd appreciate any help that I can get.

where are you located? the best place is to go to an engine importer or junkyard.

Ok now if I was to go ahead and buy the vtec for a 92-95 civic. What all would I have to change/add to install the motor?

nothing really. You would need a new ecu, and just do the wiring for teh VTEC. other than that it should be just drop in and bolt on

hey civicgurl, I got a pm from you but I cant get them so I dont even know if the ones I send go out otherwise Id have PM'd this, but whatever it was [email protected]

also check thepartstrader.com

I was looking for one for my civic a while bacjk and found a couple right away local to me that was 75 for a D15B that ran with 130k but did use a tiny bit of oil by the 3k mark and a D16 non vtec (z?) for 150 that ran great with unstated mileage.

You wouldn't have to change anything for the 92-95 VTEC motor, if you just wanted to replace the motor. However if you wanted to use the VTEC then you'd need the ECU, wiring and so on that everyone mentioned. But it would run w/o VTEC w/ your stock ECU

oh and i forgot, this motor would come as a complete swap (ecu, wires, tranny, etc.)

just go for the Z6 cant imagine that engine could cost much, people wiht EX's swap all the time. im assuming thats what you mean by SI swap and not the OBD1 version of the B16 in the 99-00 civic SI

yeah I realize that it would be pointless to swap in a Z6 w/o running the VTEC. my point was if she was looking for a cheap fix for now, that she could get just the motor, and later hook up the VTEC. That was all.

GScivic7

might as well hookup VTEC while swapping and save yourself the headache of doing it later.

yeah SOHC VTEC ecus are probably kinda cheap as well and Id rather mod a harness for vtec when its not on the engine in the car already
