I have a 96' 1500 2wheel drive truck with the 4.3l v-6 engine.
I need to replace the cat and have never done this before. I
just wanted some advice on how to go about it, maybe some parts
or tools i might need to do the job right.

No harder or no worse than changing a muffler.

Some tools you will need..... 1) a hammer...2) a bigger hammer incase the first one does not work properly lol. unless you have a welder and welding expierence the best way is to but the cat, cut out the old one and install the new with the clamps provided....(have never done one or seen one done so i am guessing about the clamps) Once you have it installed drive it down to a local muffler shop and get them to weld it in for you. Most places will only charge a small ammount to do this.

I replaced my cat after a Header upgrade. Had a good enough fit that I didnt have to weld. Clamps will do fine as long as there is no leaks. If you do Weld take off the Neg Battery Cable so you dont fry the computer.
