Broke the Side Mirror

In my rush to leave the house today I broke the LH side mirror glass. I was wondering if anyone has replaced just the glass on the mirror before. I have so far only found the entire assembly. I was also wondering how to tell if the current mirror was a heated mirror.

I haven't seen just the glass, although any glass shop should be able to cut one to match, which by the way would be one hell of a lot cheaper than a new one.
As for the heated mirror, look in the fuse box, on the left fender well, and look for a fuse titled htd mrr or something to that effect.

An aftermarket mirror at Kragen is about $90 but no defrost, It's power and plugs right in.

Glass shops have just the mirror part. I have a 2000 and my fire picked up a bungee cord and whipped it into my right mirror. A glassdoctor replaced the heated mirror for about $50.

Got mine via E-BAY used 40$, 3 bolts & wire harness plug, it took longer to take door panel out, than to install the mirror.

The mirror, if it is the premium/heated power mirror should have two sets of wires connecting to it. One (plug) is for the heater and one plug is for the "dichromatic" (to dim the lights) capability. When mine got busted, a nasty brownish oil/paste leaked out of the assembly where the plastic/glass meet. I inquired about replacing the plastic/glass assembly with a dealer part and found that it was $300. I tried to do an end-around on getting a better price from friends in the body shop business and found the part was the same price. So, being the cheap-ass that I am, I just used glass mastic to place a new mirror glass over the broken one until I can find an original. Price:$30 This fix looks perfect but I haven't used it in the snow country yet.
