I'm gonna get 18-inch rims for my Jetta VR6, but somebody told me that if I got 18-inch rims I wasn't gonna be able to get the Eibach sportline springs for my car since the tire would hit the car.
Can somebody give me some advice on this issue, should I stick with the 18-inch wheels and the Sportline springs, or should i get anothe kind of springs.

I have a 95 VR6 with eibach pro kit spings, giving it a 1.2 inch drop, as well as the eiback pro damper struts. My rims are 18's, w/ 215 35 ZR 18's for my tire size. I had the lowering and tires done at the same time, and on the drive home from the tire shop, every time I hit a dip or bump, the rear tires scraped against the body. I soon found that I couldn't have more than 3 people in the car, becuase the weight would cause the car to scrape constantly. I had my rear fenders rolled, which helped a bit, I can now have 4 ppl in my car, but it will still scrape even when I go over small bumps. The car looks amazing, but if I had known it was going to be this much of a hassle, I wouldn't have lowered it. The sportline springs drop the car even more than the pro kit, so unless you plan on spending a lot of money on body work, I would suggest skipping the lowering all together and just going with the 18's. I had a 2.0 liter before my VR6 that was lowered on 17's, which worked out fine and looked nice as well, which may be another option, if you wanted to go that route.

i dont think you should rub the fsb. jetta glis, r32s, 20ae's and 337s all have 18" rims with eibach prokits stock. prokits are 1.2" all around, sportlines are 1.8" all around.
actually i take that back, i thought you had prokits. the general rule of thumb is is you have more than a 1.8" drop, you'll rub.
sportlines are extreme borderline
as for the tire rubbing the car... that wont happen unless like wazzu said, your car's under a heavy load or you hit a bump.
if you dont want the rubbin, then get more stiffer springs. the ride will be more uncomfortable, but your tires wont hit the car.
