I'm gonna have to remove my transmission from my 89 crx and was wondering what height jack and jack stands I should get. Walmart has some cheap, jack and stands for 30 bucks, I think it lifts 17". Would this be high enough for me to get my engine out? What would you recommend? Thanks!

Also, how tall is the transmission?
Also also, what type of transmission fluid does it require? I want to get some good stuff Redline MTL and I wanna get the right stuff...yeah. Thanks for any responses! Again.

are u planning on dropping down the whole engine/transmission under the car?

if u had a cherry picker (hydraulic crane) you could pull the motor up enough to take out the bolts holding the tranny to the motor, and just jack the car high enough to get the tranny out from underneath the car

you can pull it out from the top without having a cherry picker. I'v seen people do it before, our trannys dont weigh alot.

I want to pull it from the bottom, but I need to know how high the jack and stands need to be to do that. I can put one under the engine when I get it up to support it while I take the transmission off with it being supported by another. I just need the minimum height that I need for the jack and stands to be to be able to get it out from underneath.

those should be ball enough, if you need some more room just put a block of wood between them or something.
