Has anyone every had the opportunity to change out the shocks in a 98 Blazer 4x4? I would like to know if this is a project that I could take on without much trouble before going to a dealer for repairs. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, very easy with the right tools.
Buy a Haynes or Chilton repair manual to help you in the step by step.

I agree, not bad at all. The manual wasn't much help, but its mostly straight forward. Will be much easier if you have deep sockets (18mm if I remember correctly), flex head ratchet, open ended wrenches, and some extensions.
For the rear, I found it easier to attach the top mount, then cut the cord holding the shock compresses, and insert the bottom spring as it expanded, but you have to be quick.
Definitely not worth paying the $200 installation fee they quoted me.
