My '55 Chevy

I'm new to this forum and this is my first post. :)

I've built this car many years ago and last weekend I decided that it needs a rebuild.
After a week of "intense" work I have managed to strip allmost all paint of from the body. I've also rebuilt and repainted the engine and parts of the chassis. I will paint most of the chassis parts in gold. I'm trying to use as little as possible silver because allmost all my other cars have silver. I don't if that sounds wise but every build has to have some goals... :)

So the car is basicly a Revell Monogramm '55 Chevy Street Machine. By this time I've put some bigger tires to the back and lowered the car a lot. I've also removed mouldings in the front fenders.
Feel free to comment!

First of all : Welcome to Af

Nice project, very interesting, and you've done a good job so far with the restauration.

As you're new and it's your first post, be sure to check:
AF Car Modeling Frequently Asked Questions [FAQ] (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=63623)
AF Car Modeling Tutorial and How-To Depository (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=215864)

They are the first threads to read when you join the forum, you'll find there lots of answers and tips.

And, FYI, 'in progress' or 'completed' models must be posted in the 'Completed and In-progress project' subforum. But I'm sure a moderator will do his job and move it there.

Xav :)

Welcome!
Damn this is weird! We both live in Finland and I just started a similar project with the same kit, it was one of my first builds and you all know how they end up looking:D
(Well mayby not that weird but anyway..)

BTW: Are you using the front axel wichs comes with the kit? I´m asking this because I think it is allmost impossible to get the car low enough with it..

Thank you all for your kind welcome comments.

I've painted the car in primer during the weekend and now it's just needs to be sanded before I paint with the final color.
The color will be most likely some kind of orange. :)
I also built new headers because the old ones were too big and I couldn't have lowered the car enough.
I'll post some pics once I get the rear bumber molded to the body..

And for Flying finn, I'll use a front axel from a Chevy pick-up. Like you said, the axels which come with the kit are way too high.. :)

It has been quite quiet with this car for last weeks but today I painted the car. My first thought was to paint the car first in red and over that I would have painted thin black flake layer. All went fine to the last paint layer. Once I tryed to paint the flake layer the paint came out with too big pressure/amount of paint so the car is now completely black.

Altought the paint went kind of wrong I'm very happy with the result because this is my best painting ever. I still have to build the interior and then I can assemble this beast... ;)

looks very nice indeed! i hope that you are not going to use the stock seats from the kit... because if this is the same kit as my frinend have the stock one sucks.
keep it up!

You are 100% right about the seats...
I don't know yet what kind of seats I will be using.. I have some Corvette seats which I don't need but they are way too small..I'll have to look if I find some good seats...
Or maybe I'll tint the windows - no need for interior then.... :)

edit: quoted wrong message... ;)

ye.. but the vette seats will not fitt the rest of the style.. but maybe of you have some seats from a old camaro ore something like whise.
Na dont tint them, it looks so low budget;)

So the car finished now. I'm very pleased with the result although I didn't use any time to the details..
I have to make some room to my modelling table to my next project.... :)

It's not finished yet. It needs to be painted and assembled and also the carbon fiber in the scoop will be removed.. So there is plenty of work left...
And I haven't yet figured out the color so this won't be finished for a long time...
But chassis and interior are ready.. The chassis has some parts(suspension, wheels, brakes etc.) from a Focus WRC. The interior is from a stock GT500 with scratch build rear "seats". I made out of sheet aluminium a plate which covers the rear seats... Also the engine has some scratch build parts.. :)
But here's the pic..

Lookin good so far ! Are you gonna run carbs or are you gonna make up an EFI system ?

Coronet

I haven't decided it yet. Probably EFI because I don't have any extra carbs.. :)
