I've been looking around at 2000 GTs in hopes of saving up to buy one this summer..

..one thing I've noticed is there are not a lot of aftermarket parts for these yet? What brands should I look into in terms of aftermarket?

you can get basically everything you could want, some of it just has to be ordered through a specialty producer instead of from big websites like NOPI or OverRev.

you could look for names like AEM, Injen, GReddy, Magnaflow

That's what I've been looking through.. haven't found much.. maybe because I'm used to massive amounts of civic parts.

the aftermarket support for the eclipse is nothing compared to the civic.

why.. is there more parts for the civic when eclipse models have been out for many years?

Civics have more body parts and are generally considered to be the beginner car to mod. After you gain experience with them, alot of people usually move on. Some dedicated ones get Integras to push the performance envelope and really lay down some ruthless numbers with the B series motors.

The 2G eclipse has alot of parts because it has the 2.0L 4G63, a turbo, and AWD. The performance recipe really could not get much better. But unfortunately, only about 10% of the Eclipses sold between 95-99 were turbocharged, so in 2000 with the change of the body style, Mitsu dropped the turbo.

None of the aftermarket manufacturers have been impressed with the 3G and only put out enough parts to gain some kind of following, but really not putting alot into R&D to really make the car great. However, the car can be great. The 4cyl motor in the 3G is the 4G64 which is insanely similar to the 4G63. The 4G64 has a 6mm high deck head and a 1.5mm larger bore to account for the extra .4L of displacement. The 4G64 also comes with a 9:1 compression ratio, which is only .2:1 higher than the EVO which has an 8.8:1 CR in it's 4G63. To account for the 4G64 and prove it's worthiness, the fastest EVO on the west coast is powered by a 4G64 running 30psi and dynoing over 540whp.

Boost wise, the 4G64 found in the 3G is a monster. Able to support up to 400hp on stock internals, the car dynos an incredibly poor 117whp thru the manual tranny. But add simply 8.5psi worth of boost, and that number shoots up to 265whp and 284wtq, a gain of almost 150whp/wtq.

All in all, I like my Eclipse almost more than any other car I have ever owned. Given that it has the lowest horsepower numbers because all of my previous cars had blown or modded V8's/V6's and were domestic, this car will outhandle any of them in a heartbeat. My car is a fun car to drive, and I love driving it quick. For me, right now, there is no better car for looks or performance.

But if I had the chance, I would snatch up the G35C 6sp in a heartbeat. Maybe later on.

there are more civic or should I say Honda aftermarket parts simply because there are so much hondas out there. The demand for aftermarket parts for civics and accords are huge compared to eclipse. For eclipse parts you should go to a tuner shop and see what they offer.
