i don't know what vtecH stands for. :p i'm not sure what even VTEC stands for. haha all i know is it's honda's tested and tried variable valve system. deals with the timing and lift of the valve system. and just like it's called, it can vary depending on your engine speed for maximium optimal performance. gives you the good gas mileage down in low rpms. but get on the gas, it'll give you more power in higher rpms. most companies nowadays have their version of VTEC, some superior and some not so much. honda has simply been the one to make wide use of it in their cars.

it's a great system. but don't think it's some out of this world system that makes your car faster and better than anything out there. too many people already have that poor and silly ideal. i once had a kid in a civic si say that he could beat my prelude simply coz he had VTEC. didn't know how much power he had or how big his engine was, all he knew was he had VTEC and it was the greatest thing in the world. :p didn't even fathom the idea that all USDM 5th gen preludes have vtec. idiot. anyway, you get my point.

it stands for VariableTimeingExtentionCams, the cam has an extra lobe on it and there is an extra free floater for the valves, and when the "VTEC" kicks in, oil goes threw the lines and......well i cant really explain the whole thing thebest way to see it is go to www.acura.com and look at the rsx part of the site and it will give u a video on the whole vtech system.....pretty tight....

Vtec is an accronim that stands for Variable Valve Timing Electronically Controled Lift.

A vtec motors cam has 2 lobes, a high lift and low lift lobe. Basically, vtec changes the timing of the valves, the lift , etc..at a certain rpm. Before the Vtec crossover point, engine operates @ low lift. When the Vtec crossover point is reached, the motor switchs to the high lift lobe.

High lift is great for high rpm power and engine breathability, but it will give you AWFUL low end power, torque, and you will ideal like crap. Many races cars run high lift cams, which is a reason they can't idel wel, etc.

Low Lift is good for a smooth idel, low rpm power and torque, but you are limited in the amount of power and how high the rpms can go.

At the point where basically the power curves of the 2 different lifts would meet, the vtec crossover takes place and the motor contuines to make power up into the power band.

Vtec is a way for Honda to get the best of both worlds, smooth idel and good low rpm output from a low lift cam and high rpm power and breathabilty from a high lift cam. Vtec gives the best of both worlds without the major drawbacks.

BTW...Vtec on the regular RSX and the new Civic SI isn't very the way we know it. It only operates half the valves, for emissions purposes. Vtec on the RSX type-S uses Vtec in the standard way we have come to expect...much like the Integra, the older B16A Civic SI, your H22 Prelude, etc.

A Rotary engine and pistons? Rotary Engines have no pistons, so that doesn't seem very plausale. As I have no clue what video you are refering to, please enlighten me. :)

i found the link with the video, but the link is broken, so i copied over this summary by portlygoat over fantasycars.com:
=====================================

Red Mustang is shown with Nissan GTR Badge on the back, camera zooms in to show asian writing and a big ass APC sticker in the middle of the rear window. Guy behind camera is loudly criticizing the vehicle, large black man walks over to drivers side door, the owner of the vehicle. Owner says "GTR IS A SPECIAL MODEL" camera pans to show modified interior. Red accents on steering wheel, centre console, dsah, gauges, air vents. Driver says its a "2000 edition" Camera man asks "so its a limited edition GTR" Driver says "its got a turbo on it" When asked what kind of intercooler is on his car the drive replys "uuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, it came with it" Driver says there are no headers,b ut it has an full exhaust. Camera man asks if he's got a 'rotory' in it , driver nods his head and says yes. Driver then states "its doing 11's on the track" camera man asks "so its a turbo rotary with pistons, and headers" driver confirms all of this.
