ok i have been shopping for some time for an egt gauge....everything that i have read is that we (1g gsx guy's) need a guage that reads over 1600 deg. am i wrong about this? the only affordable one is the greddy. i like it since is has the warning light and replay features. what do u guys think?

I think everyone knows my feelings on EGT guages and thier uslessness. But if you do want one, the Greddy works fine. They dont really offer anything for cars that reads higher. The greddy at least has the peak hold and warning. 1200 C is what I believe it reads too, more than 1600 degrees, thats 2192 F. Mount the probe in the number 2 exchaust runner, its usually the first to each shit. 1 or 2 really.

If you have a greddy guage you'll have to get a greddy probe, to avoid wiring. There are special considerations to take when wiring thermocouples, its not like doing lighting or soemthing simple like that. RRE sells them, or any vendor that sells that guage. Its about 35 bucks. If its an autometer guage I Would suggest using www.summitracing.net. If its a westach, youre on your own, I know nothing about them. :)
