HELP!! I have a '96 VW Golf and every now and then when you try start it , the ignition lights come on but motor doesn't turn.I took it to an auto-elec and the battery was replaced. For a few days it was fine ,but has started it's nonsense again. The Auto-elec says the imobiliser probably needs to be bypassed as they do cause hassles.Does anyone have any idea on how to bypass the imobiliser? Its one of those with the transponder you have to stick in and then the red light flashes. The unit sits under the right side dash board. It has 2 plugs that plug into it.

I'm only familiar with North American models, but this may help. If the one plug is a 6 pin connector and the other is a 10 in connector try this. Unplug both to disable the module. On the 6-pin connector wire together the wires from pins #5 7 #6. They should be a red & a red/black wire.
