hey y'all, ive read this message board for a while and have deicded to join. I have a 1995 buick century, and i just ordered an air horn that plays the first few notes of 'Dixie" and im wondering about the best way to hook it up, im thinking of going straght to the battery with it then runnign a switch inside the car, i dotn want to wire it to the existing horn, because i want to be able to use them separately, this is the newest car ive ever had, first one with computer air bag etc, and i just dont want to screw anything up so any help will be greatly appreciated.
thank you in advance, Nick

i would hook up a switch in the car, run it to a relay somewhere in the engine compartment, maybe near the battey or fusebox for ease. without knowing anything about the horn, i would wire a fuse from the battery to the relay, both controling and switched side. check the packaging for what size fuse, i bet its 30 amp. wire the other terminal of the controlling side to another fuse, 5 amp, then to the switch, then to a ground. wire the controlled side of the relay to the horn, then to ground. i suggest disconnecting the negitive battery cable while you are doing this. and stay away from the air-bag sensor. i *think* there are two black boxes behind the headlights. got it or you need more info? keep in mind this is really for a regular horn, i don't know if a dixie horn is different...

You can hook it up directly, but be sure to install a relay so all the juice doesn't run through the switch and burn it up.
Although you didn't ask, I suggest the best place to use your new horn is out on some country road. :)
