I found this on my company website today, so I printed it off and am sharing with you guys.

Some of these I don't agree with at all, but this is what my company has noticed as the top 20 most used vehicles for import/street racing...

Listed below is information from SIU regarding the 20 most popular vehicles used for Street Racing.

Cars and Modifications
These are the 20 most used cars in import/street racing. The first modifications that are usually done to these vehicles are exhaust and intake. Keep in mind cars that use nitrous are primarily cars without turbo. See below for the demographic.

why is the pt on i have yet to see any racing. did play with one on i-75 he sait he had the mopar stage 2 fot his turbo pt. he was still slow

Why is the cobalt on there...I didn't think that had come out for sale yet?...how is it getting used so much for street racing already...I would think minivans would have more of a history than the chevy cobalt at this point in time...

Scion xb/xa? what about the tC? obviously the people who write this stuff know dippcuss about cars! when I went to get insurance on my SRT-4 the lady a Geico told me that I was denied cause I was 23 and was probably gonna use the car for streetracing. can you belive it? I'm sure I was denied for good reason but "streetracing" she has to prove I even street race before she can make those kindda claims, I got so pissed that they called the cops on my ass and get me off the property. it should be illegal for private companies to do this kinda shit cause you know they will use this list to screw over young guys who bust thier asses off working shit jobs no one else wants to work just so we can afford cars we can be proud off. sorry bitch, my mommy and daddy couldnt buy me a Vette, BMW M3 or a Porche (all cars used for street racing but convieniently not mentioned) so I guess I have to suffer cause you "think" i am going to street race. how come there is no list for the top 20 cars used to rob banks or the top 20 to sell druggs in, or the top 20 to do drive bys? how come the only fed crime the insurance are concerned with is street racing?

The NSX is on there because it is equivalent in Japan as a BMW M3/M5...over there they can get as low as $40,000 (well, converting Japanese to US dollars)....also, the Skyline is on there because of the recent craze (thanks to F&F...), but they are legal in most European countries, almost all Asian countries, and Australia and Canada....

The Cobalt though, that and the PT Cruiser...(who the hell races a PT Cruiser...). I'm surprised by the Scions as well. Those cars are just confusing.

Where is the Prelude as well?

yeah the Cobalt shouldn't be on there, PT Cruiser either, neither of those have anything to do with street racing, and the Scion, you can't even race one of those things! As far as the Magnum, might as well throw the Corvette on there, Magnum is middle-aged family man's car, who street races that? Where were these stats taken, a remote 2,000 population city? I see more trucks street racing than I do all of these cars combined. Think it's a little inaccurate, unless it's just a projected guess for the future of street racing.

I just doubt the validity of this entire thing, not you gateway, but I REALLY wonder where they are gathering this information. Because the only reasonable explanation I could think of is they asked 5-10 8 year old boys what cars they want when they can drive...how else would you come up with such a list.

If you think about it logically, the scions and GTO have only been available for the past year or so. Magnums...this summer, and cobalts aren't out yet...in the last year, I would think more '99 vr4s got pulled over for street racing, than all 4 of these cars...nation-wide combined. It just makes ABSOLUTELY no sense. Only 3 v8s even made the list...

If you think about it, the cobalt beat out EVERY ls1 car EVER? HOW? If even 1 ws6 or corvette got pulled over it should logically be higher on that list than the cobalt(which isn't even on the road yet)...I'm assuming more than 1 ls1 got pulled over last year due to street racing...so when have all these chevy cobalts had time to race so much?

Like I said, I am just reporting what my company has noticed for street racing when we investigate claims. I'm sure if you look at state farms "top 20" list it's much different because they insure like 40% of the nation.

When first read the title I started looking for the Camaro to be on the top of the list, but its not even on there. And the NSX? Why would you do street racing in a car thats so slow in a straight line for its price? I think they might have done a survey and asked the questions funny to get those answers, like asking "when you think of street racing, what cars come to mind?", not actual statistics.

Well what about the NSX and skyline? Its probably some dummies best guess.

Heres how the study was composed.

"August 14th, 2004.

A study was composed today among 1500 16-20 year old males from 30 Californian High schools about which cars are the fastest and tightest, only a few of the Male subjects had any common sense as to what cars are actually fast, among them the Nissan Skyline, Acura Nsx and the Toyota Supra.

The results of this poll along with a viewing of 50 "street racing videos" (To find out which cars were involved) were compiled and then the 19 highest chosen/viewed cars were picked for our "Top 20! 'The 20 most likely cars to be used in street racing!" (The Honda Civic was automatically added in.)

The rest of the male subjects who didn't pick the Skyline, NSX or Supra, were figured to be pretty dumb ricers who Liked the FnF franchise. The ones who picked the GTO were just idiots.

I fail to see how an NSX is so slow in a straight line for its price...it can beat quite a few Ferraris and it costs like $150,000 less.

As for the male subjects who had common sense, what happened to the Cobras and LS1s? Seriously messed up list after reading it again.

I highly doubt that that is an international list. The skyline is the only car on it that is not intended to be sold in the US, and the only reason anyone would import one is to race it. Can you even find a skyline in the US that isnt affiliated with some sort of racing? That is a challege, prove me wrong. However, the US is the only country that has Acura(2 on the list), the Eclipse, and the 240SX. Looks like a US list only to me.

That sound like a really dangerous way to gather information. its all wrong, plus what do they use this list for Gateway? do they actually charge people with these cars a higher premium? I dont know man, sounds like insurance companies can do whatever they want and no one can stop them, risky in that they are now in a legaly actionable possition.

no there is not extra charge for these vehicles from what people would already pay.

I'm sure they just use the list as some sort of a guide or whatever. ie: 18 year old reports an accident and he's driving a Mustang GT. I'm sure they will investigate to see if this person was racing or something.

YAY! I drive an rx7, im not on the list for a street racing investigation! However, my other car, a base 1.8L eclipse did make the list and it has 93hp.
