im looking into buying a turbo, im still learning about them, the whole a/r , compressor wheel sizes, and which are better for higher or lower end mumbo jumbo...

but the other day i was looking at greddy turbo kits, and one was
TD06S-20G 8cm2 turbo and another one was a
TDO6SH-20G the upgrade kit.

now im still confused by these numbers. is there a place where i can learn about all these numbers and what they mean? im only going to go with Greddy because they are soon to pass the CARB on those so ill need that since i live in CA, so greddy is my only choice for now, but where can i find all the greddy turbo sizes and numbers and specs... i want to select the perfect one, something that wont spool right away and something that wont take forever, that where ill use my A/r knowledge and a few other things i learned so far, but i would like to find all greddy turbo options, the sizes and part numbers or whatever... which way to i go?

That should keep you busy. Visit the Forced Induction forums frequently.

How Stuff Works isnt that in depth.

TD06S-20G 8cm2

TD06 - Compressor Size
S / H - Has to do with the Trim
20G - Exhaust Housing
8cm2 - Compressor side Intake area.

I think thats right but Im most likely wrong.

Im really not all that Impressed with mitsubishi Turbos... IHI and Garrett seem to have much better technology. but whatever... they still get the job done.

thanks for breaking it down for me, its more helpful knowing what those mean, i checked out how stuff works, and a few other links here. Where can i find other turbo sizes like what other set ups they come in?

i want to get a T3 with T4 compressor wheel, then i can handle up to 550hp easy, but i will need the greddy turbo with the CARB stamp and the documents so i can show the cop, and then the T3/T4 will be my upgraded turbo.

I'm pretty sure the Greddy kit comes with a manifold flanged for Mitsubishi turbos. The T3/T4 setup is a Garrett turbo. I think Turbonetics uses the same flanges. The 20g should support whatever you can make on the stock engine. As R.W. said, Mitsubishi's turbos aren't all that impressive. Just look at the flow rating on the turbo. 40 lbs/min will support around 400hp. Just multiply the flow rating in lbs/min by 10 to get the approximate horsepower rating.
