system too rich...

i'm sorry about a noob question, but i'm very new to engine work. i've been running a t3/t4 turbo for about a month now, the cel just came on and reads system too rich (P0172). the noob question is, "too rich" does that mean too much air? if so, how di i adjust to compensate for that? thanx in advance.

edit: also, another code appeared at teh same time, idle control malfunction. could the two problems be related, one cause the other or vi versa? any help would re appreciated. thank you.

too rich = too much fuel in the mix; unfortunately, i don't know enough about boost setups to know what controller you'll need to adjust the air/fuel mix.

you'll get more help if you describe the application/engine (and fuel system), and if this is boost related, it might get more attention in the turbo forum.

yes i believe that the 2 could be related: improper fuel mappings in certain rpm ranges, but that's just a shot in the dark; I'm sure one of the veterans will have an answer...if you can be a bit more specific about what you're running.

thank you asd. mods, could you please move this thread to turbo forum. thank you.

here's what i'm running: b18b w/ revhard stage 2 kit. at ~7psi. the fuel pump & fmu come w/ the kit, so i'm not exactly sure what brand. hope that'll help. thanx.

Hondata + Tuning = problem solved. Plus you'll have more power after tuning.

I agree with prelude.

what kind of FMU do you have ? unless its a "standalone" then all you can tune is fuel and no timing. if its only a fuel thing then i would recommend changing to a "standalone" that can tune timing
