I have a 98 Max SE and ill be picking up my eibach lowering springs tomorrow that will lower the car 1.25", I heard it was not a good idea to put lowering springs on stock struts but then the SE model already has a sport suspension, So is the struts strong enough to take the the new spring ??

Well lets see here... I put on a set of Eibachs on my 2000 Max and i drove the car 30000 miles before i opted to put on a KYB set up so if that helps then ok but that is my opinion on this.

Your stock struts and shocks are not designed to handle the spring force lowering springs will put out. They will ride OK for a while but the excessive load will shorten their life. My 99 had 30K on it when I put H&R's in it. The car road fine for about 3 months, then things got a bit soft.

It's best to upgrade your entire suspension at once. That way you get the maximum performance from your springs, matched up with struts that can handle the higher rate they put out. The end result is more control over ride quality along with usually a lifetime warranty on your new shocks and struts.

I would recomend adjustable KYB AGX's. They are the best strut out for our cars right now and have a limited lifetime warranty. I have them in my car now and they ride awsome.
