Can You Diagnose This?

Ok here's the problem:

The car is an 87 Supra Non-Turbo. The engine is the 7M-GE that was rebuilt, converted to twin-turbo, then converted back to N/A when my dumb friend pinched an oil line and blew the turbos. The engine, one day, didn't turn over and just made a click sound when the key was turned (solenoid good, starter bad). So we bought a new starter with solenoid and went to put it in. Soon after we discovered that it was going to be incredibly difficult without taking off the intake manifold. So we took the manifold off and got stuck with a stripped starter bolt and gave up for the day. Well my friend being so lazy and also having the car banned from the road for 1 year (ungodly amount of tickets) didn't get back to doing the job for about a year (so it sat through a winter). When we finally got back to it and got the new starter in, the engine cranked over just fine but now it won't start/fire. Now there wasn't much gas while it sat for so long, and when the battery is connected two lights on the dash come on without a key even being in the ignition. Also the fuel pump relay buzzes when the battery is connected. All the fuses are fine, but the E.F.I. fuse blows whenever the engine is cranked over. That's as much detail as I can think of at the moment, can anyone tell what is causing the problem?

OH OH I KNOW I KNOW!! The oil needs to be changed!!  Although all the fluids should be changed after the car has been sitting for so long before you try to start it. Seriously man are you trying to test me or you really have a problem? A TT 7m, someone on SF would have heard about it by now and you would be flooded with emails until you posted pictures of it. If your blowing fuses there is obviously a short somewhere, did you wire up the starter backwards or leave something hooked where it isn't supposed to be hooked? The starter is very easy to remove from the bottom of the car, you should only do it from the top if you have tiny tiny arms. :) Also which lights are coming on in the dash, some should come on, the door open light, possibly even the blown tail failure light. All I can say is check the connections, the diagnostics box to make sure the FP wires aren't jumped/shorted, the ECU harness, main fuse box, anything and everything.

lol yes I really have the problem, and it was a TT 7M (cost $6000 w/ 130k), and it ran high 12's, but that's not the issue here. I've checked everything you said I can't find a short anywhere (I know theres gotta be one somewhere), and the lights that come on in the dash are the check engine light and the brake light as if the key were in the on position, but they are on without the key in there (they just automatically come on as soon as the battery is connected). And getting to the starter wasnt the problem, the problem was the stripped bolt which was impossible to get at with a special tool without moving the intake. I know it sounds like a test question but this is a real problem, I want to get this thing started so I dont have to sell it for parts because I will be selling it before winter hits! So with that said any idea's on where the short might be (EFI fuse blowing, power going to dash lights)? I don't have any wiring diagrams and TIS (Toyota Information System) doesn't date back to the 87 Supra. Also as far as a short, nothing was done to the car at all, it wasn't even sat in, so what could cause a short to happen when it's just sitting, do you think a mechanism went bad that would be connected to dash lights somehow? like the the Igniter or Ignition coil, or ignition switch (someone said to check that before)? Thanks for any help!

Are all your ground wires on nice and snug?

This sounds like a problem I had, Except my car didnt start blowing fuses. Have you done a compression test, my car was turning over had spark fuel and air, but wasnt firing. Turns out I had really low compression. May also want to make sure your intake is all sealed up tight, and that no extra air is getting into the engine.

Edit: Thats a really old post, How come it just showed up as new for me?

i have an idea for the short. I had an 85 celica and the taillights would short out whenever i put a fuse in it. so we just put a solid piece of wire in its place and it ate the short completely. a little pop and some smoke. never happened again. just a thought.
