Exhaust leak?

On my stock 93' turbo I found out that my cat brackets didn't have any bolts in place creating a rattle during normal driving. Recently drove my car hard and exhaust leak was create with increased rattle. Something gave way. Crack, gasket, more bolts or something. In trying to secure the leak and hopefully take care of the rattle I took off the cat knocked everything out and resecured the gutted cat to the block and bracket only to start it and find that the rattle was gone but the exhaust leak was still there. So I have ordered a stainless down pipe from extreme power outers in Miami (sorry no website) It was $300 dollars. Jeff sorry for rehashing. I have also order all new gaskets from toyota. Now for the questions.
1. Should I order a new manafold. Is it likely I cracked it with stock set up.

2. If gasket leak is more likely which one would it be.

3. And if I do have to take off the Turbo, which from what I can see I will, is there any helpful hints to the best way to do it. I have been told to assemble it all outside of the car. man, downpipe and turbo...

4. I need a high flow cat which is recomended. One that passes emissions in GA if that aplies to anyone would be great.

Thanks for your help everyone. Again sorry for rehashing so much

Do you know where the exhaust leak is?

1. The oem manifold is good and chances are porr that you cracked it.
It is more often the case that the OEM manifold warps ... not cracks.
If you got with an aftermarket tubular manifold, it wil crack eventually.

2. Could be either before or after the manifold. Generally, with an exhaust leak in that area, you can start a COLD engine and quickly get your hand in that area to feel where the leak is ... just be careful, it does not take long to get too hot! Do not do this on a warmed up engine!

3. There is a writeup on mr2.com I did a bazzilion years ago on doing a turbo swap.

4. You will not be able to put a high flow cat on your downpipe ... you are going to need to figure out someplace after the downpipe to install it.

***not sure why you apologized to me above?? *scratches head

I am not sure wear the leak is.

I will try what you said. I have already learned how fast the engine gets hot.

As far as the HF cat. I was hoping to put it down stream of the flex pipe.

Big picture, When all is said and done, I want the leak to be gone aswell as the rattle which is solved with the down pipe, and eventualy want to put an after market exhaust, one of which is not too loud and passes emitions in Ga. I know you are not sure about the emitions thing but my buddy has an All Trac and says the second stock cat before the muffler is sufficient to pass. But I was looking into the TKO exhaust as recomended by this forum. from the looks of the TKO I am going to loose that second stock cat.

I just hope I am not putting the puzzle together with the wrong pieces in the wrong order.

As for the appology. you have responded to my previous posts with redundent info. I appreciate your time and don't want to waist it with redundency. Thanks again

also I have pics of my car I would like to post with my user name and to posts. What is the secret
