I've got a 10 disc cd changer in my 95 trunk facing the front where all you have to do is flip down the armrest in the back and switch cds.

Now, I'm thinking of doing a custom build for some speakers (2) in the trunk where they would angle towards the front (like where the wheels are in the trunk) So it could be like an air stream going thru the arm rest.

I just wanted to check with everyone to see if anyone has tried this and has any ideas or suggestions...

Thanks.

Speakers in the back are generally filler, primarily for lower frequency sound (read as bass) Lower frequency stuff is generally omnidirectional so the positioning won't really matter too much.

On the on the other hand positioning of tweeters is fairly important although I find the stock position of the tweeters in the front doors to be sufficient.

For good sound out of the back I would just recommend some decent 6x9's to fill in the lower end stuff that the front 6.5" speakers aren't very good at providing.

For me I have Infinity kappa 2 way 6x9's in the rear. And infinity kappa 6.5" component's in the front with the tweeters mounted where the stock tweerters were mounted(They actually fit perfectly in the stock holes) Everything is powered by a kenwood 4 channel 40 watt/channel amp. It sounds awesome.

Only improvements for me might be a bigger amp since these speakers are capable of much more power and maybe a sub. Even without a sub I get amazing bass from the car which I largly attribute to the acoustics of the vehicle. In fact the piece in the trunk that the rear speakers are mounted to is called a waffle board and it works to isolate the trunk from the rest of the car to emulate a subwoofer box.

i think you might have better luck positioning the sub(s) towards the rear. I have a 12'' in the center of the trunk, that gave a little more bass than any other position. and as far as having a sub in general, i would have at least one if your into that.
I too have an infiniti Kappa setup, and a sub, powered by 2 800a Rockfords. wouldnt have it any other way...
